The Short Version
Deckard Blaine does not want your data. This site does not collect personal information, does not build profiles, does not track behavior, and will never send you marketing emails. There is no mailing list. There is no newsletter. There is no interest in creating one. Members receive notifications when new material is published through Patreon, our delivery and payment processing platform; that is delivery of the product they are paying for, not marketing. The tools described below exist to keep the site running and the community accessible. Nothing more.
Who We Are
Deckard Blaine is operated by a small team based in Canada. This policy covers the website hosted at deckardblaine.com and explains how visitor information is handled. For privacy-related questions, contact us through our Patreon page.
What This Site Collects
This website does not use cookies. It does not use tracking pixels, retargeting scripts, or third-party advertising tools. No personal information is passively collected from visitors.
All fonts used on this site are hosted on this domain and served directly from our own infrastructure, rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third-party service. This is a deliberate design decision. When a site loads fonts from Google, every visitor's IP address and browser information is sent to Google's servers on every page load. This site does not do that.
In January 2022, the Munich Regional Court ruled that loading fonts from Google's servers violates the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation. That ruling is one of the reasons we host ours.
Despite this ruling, remotely loaded Google Fonts remain standard practice on over 50 million websites. Most site operators either do not know this precedent exists or have decided the compliance risk is not worth the effort of self-hosting. We made a different decision.
This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare adds a lightweight script to each page that collects anonymous, aggregate page-view data. It sets no cookies and collects no personally identifiable information. This script is added by Cloudflare at the network level; it does not appear in the site's source code. Cloudflare's privacy practices are governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Patreon
Membership, payments, product delivery, account management, and contact are handled entirely by Patreon. When you click through to Patreon from this site, your information is collected and processed by Patreon under Patreon's privacy policy. Deckard Blaine does not process, store, or have direct access to payment information.
Discord
The community Discord server is operated through Discord's platform. Participation is optional and governed by Discord's privacy policy. Messages posted in the server are visible to other members at the access level of the channel.
Deckard Blaine has no interest in your personal data and does not collect, track, or profile it from the server. Product feedback is a different matter. The ideas, suggestions, and discussion you share there may be used to improve the product and the product catalogue, as set out in the Terms of Use. Using ideas to build a better product is not the same as tracking the people who share them, and Deckard Blaine does the first without doing the second.
Minimum Age
This site is not directed at individuals under the age of 18. Deckard Blaine does not knowingly collect information from minors. This threshold is aligned with the minimum age required by Patreon, which handles membership, payments, and account management for this service.
Your Rights
Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal information held about you. If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or California, additional rights may apply under local law. In practice, this site holds no personal information. To exercise any privacy right or raise a concern, contact us through our Patreon page.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised effective date. There will be no other notification mechanism because there is nothing to notify you about; this site does not have your contact information.
